      My 65 corvette restomod build

I should have started this thread a while ago. All the c2’s popping up on here got me going on it. I bought the car from a member here last January(2023). This is what it looked like then.

My first task was getting rid of the nasty flares.

Then I placed my order for a Roadster Shop spec seven chassis. There was a nine month wait for that. In the mean time, I built a body cart and stripped the whole car down and had it media blasted with walnut shells then epoxy primer. More to come.

Got a new Ls3 crate motor and a TKX 5 speed from Silversport. I swapped the cam out for a cam motion ‘spin monster’ cam.

I live about 2 hours from Dynamic corvettes so I went and got their rear floor and tubs. One thing I found as I was putting these in is that they make the tubs a little small height wise so that a convertible top will clear them. Since mine is a coupe, I’d rather have them taller so I can get the rear down a little lower. I raised them up by bonding in some inch and a half fiberglass blocks.

Lots of body work. Prime, block, prime, block and on and on.

Last September the chassis was finally ready for pick up. I test fitted the body and found that I needed to raise the trans tunnel about an inch.

I’ve been collecting parts for it. Dewitt’s radiator, vintage air, VA front runner setup, DSE headlight motors, American autowire harness. Still a long ways to go. This is the color I’m going with: 2011 corvette supersonic blue metallic.

That is quite a project. I'm guessing it's not your 1st or your 1st time with composites.

I've built a bunch of camaros and other steel bodied cars, but this is my first time working with fiberglass. it's been a learning experience.
